Google trusts a business whose name, address and phone match across the web. Citations searches the directories in your country, shows what is missing or wrong, and builds listings on our own network.
What it does
Citations searches more than twenty business directories for your country, such as Yelp, Facebook and Yellow Pages, for the name and city on the Google profile. For each one it shows whether the business is listed and whether the name, address and phone match. Missing listings on our own directory sites can be built with one click.
A real-life example
Say you run an electrical contractor in Brisbane that moved offices last year.
Before: Half the directories still showed the old address, and you did not know which ones.
After: The scan lists every directory, marks the three with the old address, and you fix them in an afternoon.
How you would use it
- 1.Open a business and click Citations.
- 2.Press Scan. The directories for the business's country are searched for its name and city.
- 3.Read the list: found, missing, needs a check, or cannot be checked, with the name, address and phone each listing shows.
- 4.Fix the wrong ones at the directory, and mark a listing as yours when the scan was unsure.
- 5.Press Build it on any of our own directory sites where the business is missing.
The mechanism, in plain words

- The scan runs once a day at most by hand and again every month for package businesses, so listings that go missing or change are caught.
- Each listing's name, address and phone is compared with the Google profile after tidying, so a missing suite number shows up.
- Our network is a set of business directories we run and publish to ourselves. Build it queues a listing with the profile's name, address and phone, and uses one link from your monthly pool.
- Building on our network is for US businesses today.
- Links to directories on the page are marked nofollow, so none of your ranking is passed to them.
